Long projects open for 2027. Commission us

Projects · 3 long projects, 2 ongoing

Shot a fewweeks at a time,for years.

Nobody commissioned these. They exist so that when somebody asks what a place looked like, the answer is a contact sheet rather than an opinion. Frames are licensed one at a time, with the year in the caption.

The projects

89,200 frames on file

A dim workshop floor, one man at a machine and a second figure watching from the near corner.

2016– · Ongoing · Factories, kitchens, depots and offices in six countries

Work

What people do for money, in rooms most photographers are not let into. The slowest of the projects to arrange and the one clients come back to most.

A low headland at the left edge, flat grey sea, and a sky that takes two thirds of the frame.

2012– · Ongoing · Eleven stretches of the Atlantic and Channel coast

Coast

The same eleven stretches of shoreline, rephotographed every spring since 2012. Nothing is composed to match the previous year; the repetition is in the date and the place.

The river under snow, the road bridge in the distance, and the town stacked on the far bank.

2019–2023 · Closed · Both banks of the Oder, Poland and Germany

Borders

Not crossings in the news sense. What a border does to the places twenty kilometres either side of it, photographed over four years along the Oder.
